One half of the kitchen is finally complete! With just a couple of projects left in the next couple of days, we hope to have a finished room very soon.
Like the light? It is a pendant fixture, but instead of a $20 glass shade, it's a $2 spring metal pail from Hobby Lobby. I simply used wire cutters to get rid of the handle and a Dremel to cut a whole in the top for the fixture to attach just like it would to the intended shade. Easy peasy! It was a 10 minute project, saved me about $18, and is unique, quirky and fun. Those little green pails on the window sill came from Target's dollar spot, and nicely hold sink stoppers and rings while the dishes are being done.
The only thing left is curtains for this window. I have no idea what kind to make, although I already have a beautiful citrus green linen. Any ideas?

The kitchen is darling. The linen sounds lovely. My only suggestion is not to cover the beautiful window, take the fabric to the outside of the window, where the wood paneling is. Does this make sense? To the left and the right of the window is what I mean. I just like as much light as possible. I'm sure you will make it beautiful, like the rest of the kitchen. I digress, sorry. Good job!
It looks awesome I love it :)great job :)
Oh la la, I just LOVE it!!! You'll find the perfect curtains. Xoxo-BLC
Looks fabulous! How about making a roman shade with the green linen?

What a fun new look! I think panels would be perfect--it's so streamlined and simple they way you have it right now.
What a beautiful kitchen and I love the idea for the lamp shade! So creative.
I found you through Anne Marie at Na-Da Farm Life. You have a wonderful blog and I'm so glad to have found it! I'll definitely return. Have a blessed day.

I love your kitchen. Some day I want to have shelves instead of cabinets. You know, because opening a cabinet door is such hard work, lol!
As for your window, I wouldn't want to do anything that keeps you from seeing the pretty things outside. Maybe a valance? Just something to give you a pop of color, but not enough to block the outside. Unless you don't like the outside, then maybe you would want cafe curtains.
I'm every decorator's nightmare. You know, "Oh look there's a nail. Let's hang a picture"? That's me. So, no curtain tips here!
I'm SO impressed!
Egads girl,
You have been one BUSY WOMAN!
I reeeally truly think you should
have your very own home improvement/craft show on television.
